1.1 INTRODUCTION
The Kaya tree (Samanea Saman) is a large hardwood species commonly found in Vietnam, reaching heights of 30 to 40 meters. It branches early, has large branches, a wide canopy, and a smooth, tapering trunk (the base of the tree is larger and gradually narrows toward the top).
